I would highly recommend this place. Just a few things to keep in mind:
Located in the southern end of the island perched on a cliff across from Shark Island, it is situated in the quiet Cape Shark Villas community (from what I can tell, most neighbors are Northern Europeans). You will pass 2 five-star resorts – Haad Tian & Jamahkiri – on your way up to the villa. You can walk down to the rocks below via the staircase (watch out for the red ants & millipedes), but I don’t recommend it with kids. The nearest swimming beach (Sae Daeng) is a good 15-20 minute walk away with kids up & down the hills – not an easy walk but we did it! To get around the island, we relied on the trusty villa taxi driver Mr. Bear who was very pleasant & acted as our guide. You can also rent scooters at the villa or other vehicles in town. All in all, we are happy with the location which is tucked away so we have our peace when we came back from a day at the beach. The view from the villa was just beautiful & breath taking! Do keep in mind that the villa gets quite windy throughout the day as it is high on a cliff.
We also visited Freedom Beach, Koh Nangyuan & Sairee Beach at the far end (which was surprisingly nice for small kids given the fine white sand & shallow water). Unfortunately due to strong winds when we were there, we did not get a chance to visit the east side of the island which I am sure is also very nice.
