The villa lived up to my expectations, which were high, as I took my extended family from Bangkok there for a weekend getaway. Upstairs is the main bedroom with ensuite which is separated by lockable door from a second bedroom / lounge room type area with TV. The second bedroom has it’s own bathroom. Downstairs is another bedroom with bathroom, accessed via external stairs. The kitchen is in-between the top floor main bedroom and the second bedroom / living area. It is a bit on the small side to do too much serious cooking, but more than enough if you want to cook something using the benchtop (we went to the village for dinner both nights and used the kitchen for breakfast / lunch). Microwave, toaster and kettle are included. Mini-bar items are not extensive but enough to keep you going until you get stocked up. The fridge / freezer is full-size. The upstairs bedrooms open up on to a outdoor decking area where a dinner / breakfast table and lounge are are located. From this area the pool and several banana lounges can be accessed. An outdoor shower is also provided. Wifi strength is limited due to the capacity available to the island, but communications via mobile broadband / cell phone work fine. The pool is not as big as the one at the Eagle Villa, but it was more than big enough for cooling off and having a bit of fun. There is also a community pier down at the water’s edge that can be accessed from the villa via road and steps and takes about 5 minutes. From the pier you can snorkel and view local fish, otherwise all-day boat trips are available to do same. Access to the nearby village is best done by taxi, as the area around the villa is very hilly and not for the faint-hearted. The trip takes about 10 minutes and there is plenty to do there as it has restaurants, bars, shops, ATMs and more. The fire shows on the beach are not to be missed and you can even let a floating lantern fly if you feel the need. The owners popped in once we were settled to check all was well which was nice, and the staff were awesome. Have stayed at many places in Thailand and elsewhere and this was my first visit to Koh Tao. Everybody loved it and we will definitely be back. Perfect for a family weekend.
