Best Beaches on Koh Tao, Freedom Beach

Best Beaches on Koh Tao, Freedom Beach

This is a small and secluded beach on the southern part of the island. You will get here by driving a bit past Chalok Bay. You will have to leave your scooter (or get dropped off) outside the Freedom hotel and then either walk the upper way with many steps down or you can take the concrete walkway they have build along the coast, starts from the small beach in front of the hotel. Very nice and beautiful short walk. Freedom beach has shady trees in the front, some with hammocks and there are corals hanging from the branches everywhere. Very nice and laid back place. There is a restaurant if you wish to stay for lunch or want to buy some drinks.... read more
Snorkel with black tip reef sharks!

Snorkel with black tip reef sharks!

One of the attractions on Koh Tao is to snorkel with the harmless black tip reef sharks. There are tours organized every day for snorkeling around the island. Villa Sabai Jai is situated next to Shark bay and just inside of Shark island. If you are lucky you can snorkel with the often quite small (50 -100 cm) sharks in the sea in front of the house. A calm day you can even see them from the deck. Lately also a turtle has been spotted almost every day when coming up to get some... read more
Best beaches on Koh Tao, Aow Muang Bay (Mango Bay)

Best beaches on Koh Tao, Aow Muang Bay (Mango Bay)

This is the most northern beach of the island. Very clear water and good snorkeling along the sides of the bay. Large restaurant ”a few steps up” with marvellous views. If you come by road you will have to do a large amount of steps (but the road up to here is quite beautiful). Recommend you to take a longtail boat, it´s a lot easier. Try to be early, the later you arrive the more boats and people will be... read more
The best beaches on Koh Tao, Sai Daeng Beach

The best beaches on Koh Tao, Sai Daeng Beach

Small beautiful, quiet, calm and laidback beach with coral sand, the beach also goes under the name of Coral beach. Good for snorkeling and for spotting harmless black tip reef sharks. Just outside the beach is Shark island. There are two simple but nice restaurants and one laidback bar. Great having lunch under a shading tree with your feet in the sand, but also lovely to come down in the evening. There are a few sun chairs and umbrellas, but it´s also wonderful lying in the sand under a shading tree, maybe with a book in your hand, or take a nap.  This is a “relax beach”. One of our favorite beaches and within walking and swimming distance from Villa Sabai Jai.... read more
The best beaches on Koh Tao, Hin Wong Bay

The best beaches on Koh Tao, Hin Wong Bay

This nice bay has really clear water and is very good for snorkeling. There are lots of nice coral and fish in the outer part as well as a small sheltered beach, don´t miss this part of the bay. The easiest way  to reach this outer part is by boat but you can also walk.  Mostly rocks in the bay but there is also a tiny beach in the inner part as well as a couple of... read more
The best beaches on Koh Tao, Sairee Beach north

The best beaches on Koh Tao, Sairee Beach north

Sairee Beach is the longest beach on the island. Along the beach there are lots of bungalow resorts, restaurants and bars. There are also a lot of small boats transporting divers to the diving boats lying a bit off the beach. The middle of the beach is the most busy stretch and not so nice for swimming, but if you go to the most northern part you will find it very peaceful. Here you can relax under a coconut palm (check that there are no coconuts above you) or you can rent a sun bed with umbrella (the only ones to rent on laid back Koh Tao). This is a very good place for children to play and... read more
The best beaches on Koh Tao, Sai Nuan Beach 2

The best beaches on Koh Tao, Sai Nuan Beach 2

When visiting Koh Tao there are some small exclusive beaches not to miss. Sai Nuan Beach 2 is one of them. You will need to rent a motorbike or an ATV to get there, the last part of the road you will have to walk (100 m). There is a small beach at arrival between two restaurants. One of the restaurants is Siam Cookies, they serve the best and most crispy “no names” on the island. The service might not be the quickest but whilst waiting, sit down, have a drink, relax and enjoy the atmosphere. If the tide allows you can walk by the rocks to the next sand stretch. Here you will find Banana Rock Bar, built on the sea with driftwood. Special place. Have a drink and chill out in a hammock. The beach is good for swimming and snorkeling. This is the place where you can sometimes spot turtles. Very few people on this beach. Soon we will present another secluded beach, secluded=luxury... read more
Local organic lettuce

Local organic lettuce

Just came from the local lettuce grower, he has a whole lot of different types of organic lettuce and large basil plants that you can put in a pot with soil and it will grow big. The lettuce lasts about a week in the fridge. Tonight we will serve fresh grilled tuna with a large... read more
